According to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.car250.com\/new-toyota-hilux-2026-2.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Car250<\/a><\/em>, the latest version of the pickup is expected to break cover at some point during the show before it closes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/2025\/08\/the-all-new-toyota-hilux-will-have-a-very-different-interior\/\">New Leak Reveals What Toyota Didn&rsquo;t Want You To See Inside The Next Hilux<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Spy shots and patent drawings have already given us a good idea of what to expect revealing an updated nose and tail with a more vertical grille, slightly slimmer headlights, and what could be a transverse LED light bar linking the two lamp clusters. The squared wheel arches are expected to get chunky black plastic cladding that improves both protection and street presence, and we can bank on some changes to the rear lights, too.<\/p>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article-thumbnails-organic\"><\/div>\n<p>The center section of the Hilux, though, appears unchanged, as is the chassis underneath. Sources say <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/tag\/toyota\/\">Toyota<\/a> has opted to stick with the current truck&rsquo;s IMV ladder chassis rather than switch to the more modern TNGA-F setup used by the new Land Cruiser and America&rsquo;s midsize Toyota pickup, the Tacoma.<\/p>\n<section class=\"type:slideshow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"lazy \" data-src=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" alt=\"\" src=\"\" data-type=\"inarticle-image\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"lazy \" data-src=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" alt=\"\" src=\"\" data-type=\"inarticle-image\" \/><\/section>\n<p>That doesn&rsquo;t mean the new Hilux will be all style and no substance. Intel suggests it could get an electric power steering system, which would help cut fuel consumption while also allowing Toyota to incorporate ADAS tech that&rsquo;s become the norm. Toyota has already added 48-volt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/2024\/02\/toyota-hilux-receives-another-facelift-in-australia-together-with-mild-hybrid-diesel-option\/\">mild-hybrid assistance<\/a> to the existing truck&rsquo;s 201 hp (204 PS) 2.8-liter, four-cylinder diesel engine, but reports say we could get a plug-in hybrid variant in 2026<\/p>\n<p>Dropping in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/2024\/04\/2024-toyota-tacoma-hybrid-priced-from-47795-tops-out-at-65395\/\">2.4-litre&nbsp;i-Force Max hybrid powertrain<\/a>&nbsp;from the Tacoma could give a sporty GR Hilux 326 hp (330 PS) and a beefy 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque, and the automaker itself has strongly hinted that it&rsquo;ll debut a full EV too before the end of this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>More: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/2025\/03\/2026-toyota-hilux-gr-sport-everything-we-know\/\">Everything We Know About The 2026 Toyota Hilux GR Sport<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Patent office drawings of the ninth-generation truck that confirm visual changes evident in the spy shots also reveal the presence of a new digital gauge cluster and a modern tablet-style touchscreen infotainment system.
