From what&rsquo;s visible, this SUV appears well-positioned to take on rivals like the Lotus Eletre and the Porsche Cayenne EV, joining the increasingly crowded field of high-performance electric SUVs vying for attention.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/2025\/03\/mercedes-amg-electric-super-suv-will-beat-porsches-k1-to-the-punch\/\">Mercedes-AMG Electric Super-SUV Will Beat Porsche&rsquo;s K1 To The Punch<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/tag\/amg\/\">AMG<\/a> SUV sits noticeably lower than existing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/tag\/suv\/\">Mercedes crossovers<\/a> on the market, and is more like a large crossover, similar to the Ferrari Purosangue. Engineers have done a good job of hiding most design details at the front with plenty of camouflage and body cladding. However, we can see the outline of quite a sizeable grille and the basic shape of the headlights.<\/p>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article-thumbnails-organic\"><\/div>\n<p>Looking at this prototype from the side, it&rsquo;s impossible not to notice the black wheels, orange brake calipers, and the massive Continental tires. Measuring in at 285\/40 ZR22 at the front and 325\/35 ZR22 at the rear, they&rsquo;re slightly larger than the 275\/40 front and 315\/30 rear tires of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/2025\/05\/we-tested-the-eletre-s-and-its-a-true-lotus-just-not-as-we-know-it\/\">the Eletre S we recently tested<\/a>. While there&rsquo;s no confirmation yet, rumors suggest that power will be upwards of 1,000 hp, which explains the gargantuan size of the tires.<\/p>\n<p>Other details worth noting: flush-mounted door handles and charging ports on both rear quarter panels. As such, this car has rudimentary taillights, cheap reflectors, and a bumper that will no doubt be changed significantly for production. With this being said, the shape of the rear window and tailgate does somewhat remind us of the Kia EV6.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Built on a New Platform, With a Clear Mission<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rather than modifying the existing EVA platform used by the EQE SUV and others, AMG is building this performance SUV on its all-new AMG-EA platform. This aluminum-intensive structure is shared with the upcoming AMG electric super sedan and runs an 800-volt electric system, suggesting that rapid charging and thermal efficiency were high on the priorities list. Each motor is capable of producing up to 480 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. AMG plans to offer dual- and tri-motor configurations, with the top-tier model expected to easily exceed 1,000 horsepower.
