Ram Confirms 25 New Models In 18 Months And It Starts With A Bang In June

  • Under new leadership, Ram wants to recapture some of the magic it’s lost.
  • One of its most important new models will be a mid-size pickup for the US.
  • Recent reports also suggest a new version of the 1500 TRX is in the works.

There’s a lot brewing at Ram, and if the brand’s new boss is to be believed, the next year and a half could be packed with announcements. After a quiet stretch, the truckmaker looks set to make some serious noise.

Tim Kuniskis, the former head of Dodge who’s now running Ram, says the brand will unveil 25 production-related announcements over the next 18 months. The first one is scheduled for June 8, marking the beginning of what Kuniskis described as a major new chapter for the company. The comments came via LinkedIn, just ahead of the New York Auto Show.

While Kuniskis didn’t offer specifics, he said the Ram team has been “shaping the next evolution of Ram,” in recent months, setting out a “bold new chapter that honors the legacy of the brand while redefining its future.”

He also noted that he’s “proud to be back, proud [to] be a part of this team, and more determined than ever to show the world… nothing stops Ram.

Midsize Truck in the Pipeline

So, what exactly does Ram has up its sleeve? One of the company’s most eagerly anticipated new models is a midsize pickup truck for the US market. Ram has been developing this new model for several years now and in late 2024, then Ram chief executive Chris Feuell confirmed it would be brought to the market in 2025.

Ram hasn’t said whether this truck will take on midsize staples like the Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado, and GMC Canyon, or compete with smaller options like the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz. However, recent reports suggest the new model could be underpinned by one of Stellantis’ unibody platforms and it will likely be produced at the Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois.

Ram also still has a gap to fill after discontinuing the 1500 Classic. That move, which resulted in 1,100 layoffs, left a noticeable hole in the brand’s lineup. Last month, Ram CFO Doug Ostermann acknowledged the need for a replacement, adding fuel to speculation that new models are on the horizon.

There are also said to be several other exciting vehicles from Ram in the works. According to recent reports, the 5.7-liter and 6.4-liter Hemi V8s will soon return to the Ram 1500 models. The brand is also said to be readying a new 1500 TRX that could use a supercharged V8 with even more grunt than the first-gen model, which delivered 702 hp and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm).
