Although Kia had previously shared a few low-resolution images and short video clips through its global channels, the 2025 New York International Auto Show marks the compact hatchback’s first in-person appearance.

The front end of the K4 Hatchback mirrors the aggressive look of the sedan, but the overall proportions tell a different story. The profile keeps the hidden rear door handles and pronounced rear shoulders while introducing a new black trim piece that links the side windows to the rear glass. Around back, the hatch gets its own identity with a wide LED light bar and an integrated spoiler.

More Practicality Despite The Smaller Footprint

The smaller rear overhang makes the K4 Hatchback 11 inches (279 mm) shorter than the sedan, while the difference among the respective GT-Line trims is 10.6 inches (269 mm). According to Kia, the smaller footprint of the five-door model improves maneuverability, especially in tight urban environments.

Familiar Cabin, More Headroom

Inside, the K4 Hatchback carries over the same digital cockpit setup as the sedan, which can be paired with a Harman Kardon audio system and up to 29 driver assistance features. Despite the reduced length, Kia claims it maintains the K4 Sedan’s “class-leading” rear legroom. The hatch even adds an extra inch (25 mm) of rear headroom, thanks to its flatter roofline.

});

The real benefit, however, is in cargo practicality. The hatch offers 22.2 cubic feet (629 liters) of storage behind the rear seats, and up to 59.3 cubic feet (1,679 liters) with the seats folded down. That’s a significant bump over the sedan’s 14.6 cubic feet (413 liters), largely due to the vertical space gained from the hatchback design.

The new Kia K4 Hatchback is also available in the exclusive Sparkling Yellow. The pictured GT-Line trim is distinguished by the 18-inch alloy wheels and gloss black finish for the mirrors, side skirts, and wheel arch moldings. It also gets a three-spoke steering wheel, paddle shifters, and a sportier suspension setup. Furthermore, the GT-Line Turbo adds a small cube LED projection headlights, LED fog lights, a power sunroof, and 16-inch front brakes.

Two Powertrain Options

The base model uses a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 147 hp (110 kW / 149 PS) and 132 lb-ft (179 Nm) of torque. This engine is paired exclusively with an IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission).

});

Those looking for better performance can get the turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder option with a beefier 190 hp (142 kW / 193 PS) and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque. This version sends power to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The 2026 Kia K4 Hatchback will reach US dealerships in late 2025. ricing and full trim details will be announced closer to launch. As a reference, the 2025 Kia K4 Sedan is priced between $21,990 and $28,090, so the hatchback is likely to land in a similar range.
