He Got A Free Toyota After 1 Million Miles Now He Hit A Million Again

  • Victor Sheppard’s 2014 Toyota Tundra retains the original 5.7-liter V8.
  • At approximately 860,000 miles, the transmission had to be replaced.

Some people get tired of their vehicles after a few years. Victor Sheppard isn’t one of them. Instead, he’s managed to drive two separate Toyota Tundra pickup trucks past the one-million-mile mark, making him a standout example of both vehicle loyalty and sheer road time.

In 2016, Sheppard’s 2007 Toyota Tundra hit an eye-popping 1 million miles. To celebrate the milestone, Toyota handed him a brand-new 2016 Tundra, free of charge. Fast forward to 2025, and Sheppard is back with another high-mileage headline. His latest truck, a 2014 Tundra, has now also crossed the million-mile threshold. Over the past two decades, Sheppard has driven more than most people will in a lifetime.

Sheppard’s second million-mile Tundra isn’t the truck Toyota gifted him back in 2016. Instead, he purchased a 2014 Tundra before his original 2007 model, eclipsing the 999,999-mile mark. After he handed over the keys for his 2007 model in exchange for the 2016 Tundra, he started to use the 2014 truck for work use, and the one Toyota gifted him for personal use.

One of the most remarkable things about Sheppard’s original million-mile Tundra is that it hit that figure while still using the original engine and transmission. All it required was regular maintenance. His 2014 Tundra has also performed valiantly over the past decade or so, and didn’t have any major engine issues. However, a new transmission had to be installed at roughly 860,000 miles.

Pickup Truck Talk shared the story first, along with several images of Sheppard’s 2014 Tundra online. Despite the truck’s mileage, it looks to be in good condition. Admittedly, there appear to be some dings on the passenger-side rear door, but most of the panels look good. Even the chrome grille surround and chrome accents on the front and rear bumpers are still nice and shiny.

It’s unclear if Toyota corporate is aware of Sheppard’s second major mileage achievement, but if it finds out, it’d be pretty cool if it provided him with another new truck so he can keep racking up the miles. After all, few things sell trucks better than real-world durability, and Sheppard’s story is about as real as it gets.
